Masamichi
(Daichan) Shibata practiced shiatsu and acupuncture for over
five years at the Shiatsu Centre. During this period his following
of devoted patients grew and I was confident that anyone treated
by Daichan was in competent, caring hands. Daichan has profound
integrity of character and he is unreservedly dedicated to healing
and the well being of his patients. His high levels of expertise,
intuition and sensitivity make him a skilled and compassionate
healer. It was an honor to work with him and it is a pleasure
to have him as a colleague in the Healing Arts.

Oriental
medicine is the medicine of vital energy. When the flow of energy
is blocked, weak or excessive then symptoms or illness occurs.
The role of the therapist in Oriental Medicine is twofold. First,
one must detect or sense the flow and nature of this energy.
Secondly, one must help restore balance and function in the
whole person by treating the person, not the disease.
Daichan is an outstanding therapist on both counts. His intuition,
combined with his refined palpation skills allows him to detect the
subtle messages of the body. He approaches his patients with a
genuineness and humility that immerses each treatment in respect.
It is no surprise that Canadian patients were immediately drawn to his
work upon his arrival in Canada in 1988. His gentleness and exceptional
abilities overcame any language barrier that he may have faced.
In the five years that Daichan worked for me, I had the pleasure of
receiving regular treatments from him. Not only did I experience his
outstanding skills firsthand, but I also witnessed the refinement of his
technique and abilities with each year that passed. It has been seven
years since I last received a treatment from Daichan and I can only
imagine the excellence he has reached by now. It is with the utmost
confidence that I recommend Daichan to anyone considering Oriental
medicine treatment.

I have
known Masamichi (Daichan) Shibata since he came to Canada in
1988. I would describe him as a very kind person who loves children.
He received practical training at a famous Sports Clinic in Japan.
Before he opened his own clinic in Vancouver, he worked at the Shiatsu
Centre in Toronto where he shared his skills with many other therapists
and increased his experience.
Recently becoming a father of two children has made him even kinder and
has caused his gentle technique to become even more refined to correct
patient imbalance and disharmony. His experienced and competent hands
apply shiatsu pressure that makes patients incredibly relaxed during
treatment. These techniques, which he developed himself, are unique to
his treatment and I think they explain why his patients love him, why
patients are drawn to him and why his work is so effective.
I would highly recommend that you experience the "Shibata-style", an
effective treatment that makes you feel great during treatment both in
body as well as mind.

In
1988 Mr. Shibata joined our team at the Shiatsu Centre in Toronto.
He brought an innovative approach to shiatsu therapy, which
complimented his unique talent in the art of Japanese Acupuncture.
Accordingly, the centre’s success increased steadily.
Daichan has been a respected associate and friend for many years and he continues to be a valuable mentor.
Daichan is noted not only for his experience and abilities but also for his compassionate professionalism. I wholeheartedly recommend Daichan to anyone in need of a highly skilled acupuncturist and shiatsu therapist with a warm and personable demeanor.
