About

Born and raised in Japan, I was inspired in my youth to pursue acupuncture following a life-changing knee injury that was successfully treated by acupuncture and holistic East Asian medicine.

I graduated from Tōyō Shinkyu College of Oriental Medicine in Tokyo, Japan in 1988 following a three-year comprehensive program in Western health sciences and Oriental medicine theory. As the most renowned school in Japan for traditional acupuncture, instructors often brought 30 to 50 years of clinical experience to their teaching. Directed by a team of gynecologists and obstetricians, the curriculum included additional training in using acupuncture to restore hormonal balance. While studying full-time, I also completed 30 hours per week of practicum in soft tissue disorders and studied sports medicine at Komori Sports Clinic in Tokyo – the most respected sports clinic at the time. I received my Japanese National Massage and Shiatsu Licenses in 1987 and my Acupuncture and Moxibustion Licenses in 1988.

I have been practicing in Vancouver, BC, Canada since 1994. My clinical experience covers a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological issues such as shoulder pain, back pain, and knee injuries as well as treatment success with hormonal and menstrual issues such as migraines, PMS, and menopause. I am also a member of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA) and the Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture of British Columbia (ATCMA).

In my spare time, I can be found challenging my weekly Grouse Grind. As an active runner, I also enjoy daily runs around Stanley Park and being involved in Vancouver’s running community.
