Facial Rejuvenation
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture was originally developed for patients with paralyzed muscles from Bell’s palsy or stroke. The result of treatment was so cosmetically pronounced that it was transformed into a program for anti-aging and beauty.
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture directly addresses facial aging symptoms via local treatment and treats underlying causes of facial symptoms such as hormonal imbalance, digestive problems, or emotional stress via root treatment. Both treatments are performed in each session to provide the best and longest lasting benefits.
What are the effects?
Facial rejuvenation acupuncture may erase as many as 5 to 15 years from the face, with results apparent after a course of treatments. Fine lines may be eliminated and wrinkles diminished. Bags under the eyes may be reduced, jowls firmed, puffiness eliminated, droopy eyelids lifted, and double chins minimized. Other likely results include: moisturizing of the skin with increased local circulation of blood and lymph to the face; increased collagen production, muscle tone, and dermal contraction; tightening of the pores; brightening of the eyes; and the improvement of hormonal balance to help reduce acne and stress.
A 1996 study from the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that among 300 cases treated with facial acupuncture, 90% had marked effects with one course of treatment. These effects included: the skin becoming delicate and fair, improvement of the elasticity of facial muscles and leveling of wrinkles, a ruddier complexion, and overall rejuvenation not confined to the face.
What is the course of treatment?
A course of treatment consists of 12 sessions. For optimal results, we recommend that clients have the first half of the sessions twice a week and have the remaining sessions once a week for a total treatment course of 9 weeks. Treatment may be ended at any time.
Some results may be seen as early as the 2nd or the 3rd session with most noticeable and lasting effects evident after the 7th or 8th session. In some exceptional cases, the course of treatment may need to be extended or repeated; the intensity of results may vary as each person responds differently based on factors including age, initial condition, and lifestyle.
Following the initial course of treatment, monthly maintenance sessions can prolong the results for 5 to 10 years. The benefits of a monthly maintenance program are not limited to the face; the body’s overall health and vitality may also be improved, slowing down the aging process.
Contraindications
As with any medical treatment, there are certain contraindications for facial rejuvenation acupuncture including drug or alcohol intoxication, pacemaker use, seizure disorders, bleeding disorders, infectious skin disorders, and pregnancy. Some patients may experience minor bruising lasting three to seven days.
Client Testimonial
“Recently I was having dinner with a friend who was looking very relaxed and younger than her years. When I commented on this she said that she had just completed a Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture procedure with Daichan Shibata. On this recommendation I decided to treat myself to the same procedure.
My skin has always been very dry. However, after just a couple of sessions my skin was much softer and less dry. I no longer felt like it would crack when I smiled! For several months I had suffered from itchy, scaly patches on my forehead, diagnosed as a low-grade eczema. I had gone through a vast array of ointments and creams in order to gain some relief but to no avail. After just a couple of sessions the eczema completely disappeared and has not returned!
When I was undergoing the Facial Rejuvenation process I received some comments from people who, for the most part were unaware that I was having these treatments. I ran into a friend who I had not seen for a while who said, ‘You look younger every time I see you!’ Another comment was, ‘My, you are looking so well.’ Another friend said to me, ‘You look taller.’
I have found that many of the wrinkles have lessened and are not as deep as they once appeared. The skin on my face is both tighter and smoother. To my eyes I have a brighter and healthier appearance. The changes that I see are subtle but nevertheless obvious. The term ‘Facial Rejuvenation and Revitalization’ matches both how I perceive myself on the outside and how I feel on the inside.”
